Invoice Accuracy:

Seeking to improve accuracy, this insurance company added barcodes to its Commercial Direct Billing System. The form is completed in the field offices and sent to the home office for processing. The bar code is scanned and registered as a live policy number. Adding the barcodes improved the accuracy of the system and also dramatically increased the speed of the direct billing process.

Inventory Control:

This drycleaner had six retail locations and one central cleaning facility. To reduce the incidence of misplaced clothing, the firm added barcodes to each ticket, which are scanned when the clothes are dropped off at one of the stores and scanned again when they are returned to the store from the cleaning facility. The system allows for instant tracking of all orders and has significantly reduced the costs associated with lost items.

Production Tracking:

This three-part production label helps track order fulfillment for a manufacturer of metal tubing. When an order is initiated, the system generates a bar coded ticket, which is scanned at each step of production for the order. The bar code records progress, tracks inventory and improves efficiency, all of which have led to better customer service.

Pallet Tag:

This adhesive back bar coded tag is filled out, scanned and applied to a pallet when it arrives at the factory. When the pallet is released the eye-readable bar code number is entered into the computer, saving time and improving inventory control.

Quality Control:

Pharmaceutical manufacturing is a complex process, involving many precise steps including labeling, sealing, weighing and packaging. This bar coded form accompanies each order and as each step in the process is completed, the individual in charge scans the bar code on the form and on his/her employee ID tag. This gives the manufacturer a high degree of accountability and quality control.
Return Part Tag:

The bar coded return tag enables an electronics manufacturer to keep accurate records of products that are returned. The tag is filled out and scanned at the point of return, again at the Service Center and finally when the item is returned to stock or discarded. Bar Codes have dramatically reduced the incidence of counterfeit gift certificates. The certificate number and the purchased amount are linked in a central database at the time of purchase.

Maintenance Service Form:

This three-part bar-coded form is an essential part of ISO 9000 compliance for this chemical company. The Maintenance department initiates a service request by scanning the form and the maintenance staff performs the service. Upon completion, the originator of the request, the Maintenance Supervisor and the Maintenance Accounting Dept. each receive a hard copy of the service call with a bar code for easy tracking and filing.

Shipping Labels:

A steel manufacturer uses this perforated bar code tag to track order fulfillment and expedite the shipping process. When the order is complete the smaller portion of the tag is retained for the file. The larger portion is attached to the skid using the hole in the left corner. The addressed tag accompanies the shipment to its destination and the recipient is able to refer to the bar code number if there are any questions about the order.
