The Flesh Company Wins Six PEAK Awards * October 2007

At the 2007 Print Solutions Expo & Conference held in Las Vegas, Grand Award winners in the PEAK competition received trophies honoring their achievements at a breakfast ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 18. Frank Newport, editor in chief of The Gallup Poll, served as keynote speaker.

The third annual Print Excellence And Knowledge (PEAK) Awards competition attracted more than 300 entries from around the world. Participating distributors and manufacturers submitted entries in 39 categories that covered the wide expanse of products, applications and programs that the print industry has to offer, from 4-color, multi-component commercial printing to e-commerce and promotional products.

The competition acknowledges companies that not only met customers’ printing needs through creativity in design, manufacturing, fulfillment and other services, but also solved problems for end users or improved their clients’ businesses.

The Flesh Company was pleased to bring home six of the PEAK Awards. Photos and descriptions of these products are listed below. For more information, call your Account Manager or 800-835-0098.

Foto-Stuff Mailer
Grand Award Winner - Integrated Products
Award of Excellence - Innovation
Award of Excellence - Digital, Variable Data, B2C

Problem: The customer markets a variety of products to schools, students and parents. A majority of these include the student’s photo in the piece. In a competitive market, the customer wanted to create a unique piece that could be personalized, mailed, and when received, would allow the student’s photo to be attractively displayed.

Solution: Designed and engineered by The Flesh Company, the “Foto-Stuff”™ product (patent pending) was offered as a solution. The base stock of the piece was processed on a Didde Web press. Multiple operations on a Tamarack Products Versa Web were needed to add special laminates and die-cutting. The piece was finished as a 12 x 18 sheet. The sheets were then printed on a HP Indigo press where the copy for the school was added, the mailing address was added, and the student’s photo was printed on a special laminate. The piece is then folded and the trim edges are removed. By peeling away a die-cut edge on one of the laminates, an adhesive border is exposed allowing the pieced to be folded onto itself and sealed closed. The piece is then ready for mail, The recipient of the piece is able to peel away a die-cut area, leaving a protective clear polyester window through which the student’s photo can be viewed. The photo can easily be displayed by peeling away an area on the back exposing a repositionable adhesive. This allows the “Foto Stuff” frame to be attached to almost any hard surface.
