Grand Award, Most Differentiated Product: Affixed/Integrated Products

Profoma / Farm Bureau

The Flesh Company was the Grand Award Winner in the most Differentiated Product: Affixed/Integrated Products category for its entry "Farm Bureau Membership Cards."

The client wanted a high-impact delivery carrier matching two affixed, high-color membership cards. In addition, the final product needed to be imaged with variable data and mailed. The Flesh Company produced the full color carrier in a continuous format. Plastic cards printed in four color on the face and one color on the back were secured through PPS (Chicago) and affixed at The Flesh Company's Parsons, Kansas facility. The completed product was then shipped to Midwest Direct (Cleveland, Ohio) for variable imaging and mailing.

The judges liked the combination of business problems the campaign addressed. They also liked that it provided the response capability and had multiple printing processes combined.

PEAK AWARD WINNER

Grand Award, Supply Chain Solution: Collaboration Between Channel Partners

Document Security Training Booklet

The Flesh Company was the Grand Award Winner in the Supply Chain Solution: Collaboration Between Channel Partners category for its entry "Document Security Training Booklet."

The Flesh Company was requested to participate in a one-day training program for distributors. The company's segment was determined to be an education program on counterfeiting and document security tactics. A PowerPoint presentation and document security training booklet were created using information, input and samples from Appvion Papers Security Division, SICPA and The Flesh Company's own library. The booklet contains sample of security papers, inks, foils and a vast variety of security processes such as prismatic VOID, micro-print and thermochromic inks. A glossary of terminology used in security printing was included as a reference guide. A white paper (published by The Flesh Company in 2012) was provided and included a questionnaire distributors could use to open security discussions with their clients. As an added tool, recipients received a black light provided by The Flesh Company to be used for demonstrating overt/covert fibers and artificial watermarks.

As a follow up to the program, each recipient received a survey regarding their overall satisfaction of the training day.

Work Order Codes

The current process involved a four part unit set which had to be hand completed in the field. The annual usage equaled $30,000.00 in cost to the client. The process was slow and potential errors were possible due to the hand written process.

The client contacted Jim Ruggeri, CDC requesting a new solution as they were launching a new infield system using Ipad’s. They needed a means to provide service codes for new equipment to the repair technicians in the field as well as all the codes for older equipment. They also wanted to be able to update the codes frequently as new equipment was released. The solution required durability due to the harsh environment and chemicals. It also needed to be pocket sized for ease of use.

Results:
Concentrics suggested using a booklet listing all the codes required using a color code system to speed referencing. They also suggested the use of tabs which were also color coded. Rounded corners would reduce damage to the booklet while making it easier to slide the booklet into a shirt or jacket pocket. The pages were ran on heavy stock and UV coated for durability then bound into a booklet using Wire o binding allowing the pages to be flipped quickly. The back of the book was printed with a section to contain the technicians contact information should the book be lost. High color digital printing was selected due to the low quantity and the need for quick changes.

Return on investment:
The client saw an immediate reduction in printing cost. The new solution was easier and more accurate for use in the field. Potential errors due to handwriting were eliminated as was the loss of printed document obsolescence due to code changed requiring the unit sets to be replaced. The over all process saved data entry time in the field yielding a high level of customer satisfaction.

KinderCare – Read, Share, Give

To create a campaign that would help encourage children to read more books and share them with others. The client wanted to also be able to track the viral effect so users could see how their participation was affecting the success of the campaign.

Metrics of results:
The solution was to create a document utilizing an integrated label. The face of the document was printed in high color using a crayon type of effect to add a level of personalization to the young readers. The integrated label was variably numbered for tracking purposes. A portion of the sheet was perforated which is used as a book mark.

Process:
A book is selected by a child and the label is removed from the document and placed in the book. The child goes to a special website and enters the tracking number. After reading the book the child passes to another child who reads the book then performs the same online process thereby providing a means of tracking the numbers of children who have read the book. Additional books are provided based on the growth of the campaign.

Return on investment:
Within ten months the program was averaging over 17,000 shares per month with over 15,000 books. The sharing took place across nearly 3000 zip codes. The registration website provides a visual tracking system so viewers can see the progress of the campaign. A new campaign is now being developed based on the success of this program.

Pricing Roll Back Labels

Business objective:
A major retailer was planning a special sales program that would be in every story location across the country on a specific weekend. Every store would roll back prices on a wide variety of products and all the pricing had to match across the country. In the past the retail had the pricing labels printed then manually sorted into packets to be supplied each store location. The not only required a huge time investment, there was a margin of error where pricing labels could be missed or incorrectly sorted in the proper sequence.

Return on investment:
The solutions presented involved utilizing an inline imaging system. The labels were produced using variable numbering using the retailers supplied pricing grid. The system generated pre-kitted packets of all the labels required in the correct sequence. This solution eliminated the possibility of missed labels or labels out of sequence. The digital process also allowed the order to be produced in a much shorter time frame allowing the retailed to make last minute changes and produced only the total label count required for the sale dates.

Grand Award, Labels & Tags, Workflow

SC Wild Turkey Tags

The State of SC required a document which would maintain a record of turkey hunting tags sold as well as a means to manage the dispensing of five tags per license.

Return on investment:
InfoProducts Corp. selected The Flesh Company to produce a custom unit set design that incorporated five tyvek tags as part two of the unit set design. The forms are dispersed to various retailers throughout the state in booklet form. The retailers use a sheet of pencil carbon from the back of the book placed between parts one and two providing image transfer when executing the document. Part two is removed and the tags given to the hunter. Part one remains in the book as part of the record keeping process.

The Tyvek portion of the document was produced on a flexo press at the companies St. Louis label facility then shipped to the Parsons plant for assembly into the finished unit set design. The solution provided the durable tag product required for the application as well as a means to maintain a permanent record of the transaction and tag numbers.

Roto_Rooter

Grand Award, Business Forms

Roto-Rooter Invoice Form

The client needed an infield document that served as a work order, invoice and invoice delivery device. The work order needed to be serially numbered at the factory and hand executed in the field. A unit set construction was selected for ease of data entry prior to the service call as well as post service information prior to leaving the residence. Parts one through three are carbonless paper and part four is bond.

Part one uses color coded areas to guide data entry and highlighted areas that must be completed in the field including suggestions by the servicing technicians for other repairs and replacements. Part three is the customer invoice. In addition to a record of services performed and services suggested, part three incorporates a marketing message in the lower right corner promoting a visit to the company website for discount coupons, helpful hints and a trivia game to boost customer response. This marketing area also promotes a survey as well as an online appointment request scheduler.

Part four is perforated to allow the page to be removed and folded creating an envelope to contain the invoice. A die cut provides a stop block for the invoice to keep it from falling out. The inside face of the envelope contains additional marketing messaging and a list of customer rights. The back of the envelope provides a home layout explaining the basic home layout for plumbing and associated vents or appliances.

Return on investment:
The document eliminates the need for a post service call invoice to be mailed which will shorten the remittance payment process time. Additional marketing messaging within the invoice and envelope generate brand marketing as well as additional sales through other products. The online survey gathers customer responses which can be used to improve customer service levels in the future.

Form and Envelope Construction

The Flesh Company was the Grand Award Winner in the Envelopes, Multi Component category for its "Form and Envelope Construction" entry.

The Document is designed as a four part form with an attached envelope. All parts required live (non-crash) numbering in various locations. Part four required jumbo numbering for the primary tag. All numbers had to be matched and verified. In addition, a pre-address mailing envelope for the completed documents would be attached as the final ply.

Judges chose this entry as winner due to its unique design and difficulty of production.

TFC Auto Service Form

Problem: The end user required a film material that could be applied directly to a laser form (not a piggyback label) and remove cleanly without leaving any residue or pulling any fibers from the laser sheet.

The Solution: We tested numerous material/adhesive combinations and were able to produce a custom material that met the end user’s requirements. The form is laser compatible; the label material is a white flexible vinyl with a low tack adhesive; printed with water-based inks with a laser imprintable topcoat.

This design was adapted from an actual production form we ran for a customer. With their permission, we created a generic form for our distributors to demonstrate this new product to their customers. This solution was manufactured by The Flesh Company and The Flesh Company label division.
